When can my child start nippers?
A child must have turned 5 by September 30th of the year they commence the program.

What do kids do at nipper training sessions?
Nippers are divided into school level age groups. In these groups, nippers participate in a variety of activities, dependent upon weather and water conditions - such as: Running & flags, swimming, board paddling, wading, basic first aid skills, beach education, games and FUN. Carnival events are practised to prepare those nippers wanting to compete at local, regional and state carnivals.
What do parents do at a Nippers training session?
Parents of nippers must remain at the beach, or organise a carer to be present during training. Parents can become involved in many areas of club activity. These include:assisting with nipper groups (no experience required, just the enthusiasm)managing a nipper group (LSV Age Managers courses run each year)coaching a group (Bronze Medallion and coaching experience recommended)providing water safety (bronze medallion) helping in the kitchen or bbqadministration/ committeesfirst aid
What does my child need to wear/bring to nippers?Bathers, club rash vest, a sun hat, towel and sunscreen are required each week.Warm tops for after water sessions are a good idea.Wet suits are highly recommended on cold evening.CLUB bathers and rash vests may be purchased from ALSC in the near future.
What happens if it is raining?
Nippers will go ahead even if the weather is poor. Groups can work on the sand or indoors on activities such as lifesaving skills, first aid, signals and other patrol related activities.
